Even though they say they don't. It's very obvious sometimes when you read the stats. A friend of min got into Princeton on a full ride for soccer with a 3.22 and good, but not great, SAT's. I'll be d**ned if they say they dont give them. What do u think?

maybe youre confusing it with financial aid.......princeton gives out all grant-based

i have a friend of mine that got a full ride to Princeton for waterpolo and she had a 3.3 GPA (and she was not poor).

They don't give scholarships, they just give out as much need-based aid as they want...

I understnad what yall are saying but sometimes it's clearly NOT need based. The soccer player at my school drives a lexus convertible..totally NOT need based.

A recruited athlete gets help with admissions, but does not get money from an Ivy League school. There may be a little "flexibility" in the need-based award, but that is the extent of any financial help.

my friend was recruited from HYPPMS and so on...for swimmimg...but is going to auburn u...ntl. champs for swimming

what an idiot.

??idiot? who? it was just a question..quite common for where i come from when 2/3 of the kids matriculating in ivies were "recruited", or whateva they call it

for us that go to school for acadamia, he would seem like an idiot...but for someone whose mile time is less than 5 min. short of olympic time...genius...he just came back from a 5.3 hr race in which he placed 4/12...he might go to italy for another race...so he is not an idiot

oh ok. that makes since

If you were awesome at some sport, wouldnt you want to go where you could be on an awesome team. Would you rather go to the team that just won the championship, or a school that puts very little into their athletics, no matter if it their HYPS

i would rather go to a school with a great team, not necessarily a great school like HYPS..etc. If u could get both, that would be good.

ivy's do not give athletic scholarships. In order to receive a official athletic scholarship, one must sign a national letter of intent during one of the signing period. period. end of story. NLI says coach gives scholarship and you promise to come to school. simple. easy. and ivy's don't do it. however, it is a possibilty for recruits at ivy's and d-iii schools to receive more or less financial aid based in comparison to other person's of similar need because they're an athlete. Grants are used to attract the students to the school and reward them for (insert ... something) and hopefully they'll give that (something) back to the school. So that athlete has athletic talent and because they will be able to give it back to the school (in this case Princeton) fin. aid committee says, "hey ... he / she might more of an impact atp-ton than him/her.... " *proceeds to shuffle a grant into folder.

the end

thank you! thanks for explaining that to me.

Dartmouth, Penn, and Pton do. At least for my sport: http://www.laxpower.com/recruits/recruits.php?action=viewRcd&db=recruits2006&q=where+display%3D%27Yes%27+order+by+College&page=16

Im too lazy to sort through and see if every ivy does...but check em...

NLI's too

They do NOT give scholarships in any sport. The DO recruit- but no money. Not in lacrosse, not in football, not in any sport. No $$$$$.

I just can't see why a college would require a commitment from the athlete if it weren't to protect their investment. There are plenty of other ways to know a kid is coming on your team...Walk-on, verbal agreement....the only time colleges use formal agreements is if Finaid is involved. "we'll give you this, if you do that"

Simply, they don't. You never know what someone chooses to put on their financial aid app. Now what they can do is give more grants as compared to loans and work study.

"??idiot? who? it was just a question..quite common for where i come from when 2/3 of the kids matriculating in ivies were "recruited", or whateva they call it"

sorry, no, i meant the kid who went to auburn instead of ivy.
