<p>For JHU's Jan. 1 deadline, does that mean JHU has to receive the app in the mail by Jan. 1 or does it have to be postmarked by Jan. 1?</p>
<p>All application deadlines are postmark / online submission deadlines. This means that if submitting online you have until 11:59 pm EST to click submit. It also means that mailed application materials need to be sent (postmarked) by January 1. Since January 1 is a holiday, you need to have your materials at the post office on December 31. </p>
<p>But seriously, why risk it. DO NOT PROCRASTINATE. Send and submit everything earlier than January 1.</p>
