For any mayor of a vast metropolitan area, an understanding of current issues in all districts is not only desirous but also vital. No error.

The answer is ‘desirous’.

But why? Desirous is a real word, so that should not be the reason it’s wrong.

It's also parallelism.
not only desirous but also vital

whatever is after not only, must be parallel to whatever is after but also.
Since vital isn't underlined (I'm assuming), dersirous must be wrong even if you didn't know the diction error.

3 in a row I usually get a little suspicious and take note of it to go back and double check those three when I finish, but 4-5 in a row is like something is wrong for sure.

Though 3 in a row is usually common, so I don't really get that suspicious haha.

^I'm not a big fan of paragraph improvements either - I either get them all correct or miss one or two X_X. I used to just ignore the essay itself, but now I skim the essay first and then answer the questions.

I don't konw if anyone feels the same as I do, but the Jan. 08 test was just disastrous. I thought the questions on there were so atypical, and the writing section was just there to mess with your mind.
