January 2009 SAT Math Discussion

that question wasnt experimental, i think. i only took 3 math sections.

and that one i actually used the ti 89 and when i was down to the 2 last things, i just plugged them in with 2^1001 xD

the calc actually took a long time to process it and i think it made me take longer than usual

-edit

im talking about the one that somoeone just asked that had like

somethings thats greater than 2 to the 1000,
and it gave u things like ((x^1000 + 2)/2 )^2
and you had to figure out which one was the greatest

what was the answer to the math problem where it took one girl 15 min to paint a fence and another kid 10 min to paint a fence, and how many fences they would paint together in 1 hr?

10.

6+4=10

for that one about the time, just multiply the fences of 15 mintues * 4 and the one of 10 minutes times 6, add em up

I didn’t have the pentagon and circle plane question-it was definitely experimental.
Rofl-what did you say for that question in post #394? I think I just plugged in big numbers and saw which one got a bigger result. Lol.

if you have two math sections in a row, doesn’t it mean that’s you have an experimental math?

did everyone get a numberline, with four letters, two of which were midpoints and such?

^ I know I got it.

Gosh, for the circle problem, I just used implicit differentiation. Much easier.

Yes, ichiruki, I did, too.

what about the area of the shaded part…
you had to add up a few boxes. I think. what’d you get for that?

42 is what I got.
120-36-16-1-25

Uh-oh, I got 22 on the box one, I think.

Not altogether sure, maybe I got 42…

That wasn’t fences, that was boxes. It was Billy and Johnny painting boxes or something. I LOL’d at the test center, stupidest problem EVER.

And yes, it was obviously 10 :D

i got 42 too

I got 22 the first time, but I did it another way as well and 22 didn’t make sense. Did you think it was a 10x10 square? I was pretty sure it was actually a 10x12 rectangle.

Mmm I think the shaded area one is 42. I believe I saw one side was 10 and for some reason assumed the whole thing was a square >_>

2 wrong on Math so far, damn…

I thought the radius for the sector area circle problem was 6? Which would mean x = 170?

Diameter was 6, radius 3.

God damn it… Another stupid mistake…

I dunno if this was experimental, but there was a math question with no diagram but it said there were points A, B, C, D, E in that order. It gave you the lengths of AC, CE, and some other thing (don’t remeber clearly). My answer was that there was not sufficient information. Can anyone tell me if this was experimental or not? The question was a bit sketchy lol

^experimental.
