January 2009 SAT Writing Discussion

aight thanks! I got it right.. hehe.. anyway I was quite confused if the word comparing has to go with "comparing ... and.." instead of "comparing .. with..." :D

CR7_ManUtd, Messi was diagnosed with a growth problem.he was not going to be like any of his friends his age.but he kept on working on his skills and FCB discovered his talents. then you know what happened... =) all the doctors said it was not possble for him to be a soccer player but he didnt give up and worked hard. that was my first example. =)
i wish i could write about CR.. but as you know he didnt have much of a tragic life =)

Messi is god-like,i have a picture with him at Nou Camp.

I wrote about Man United vs Bayern Munick 1999 Champions League final :):)

okay for the world fair one, i put (E).

"crowds" parallels with "those". Both are plural. And also, "had been" just doesnt make sense in this sentence o_O otherwise, it would be fine lol so I'm pretty sure it's (E)

And the only non-error one I got was the vessels one...

@oceanangel
I also found only 1 error (the vessels) and put q29 about the crowds ''E'' but we were incorrect.In Answer choice 'E ,the crowds were defined as ''those'' ,and this is icorrect.I think in order to be correct,it should be ''these'' .
Also our choice had lack of parallelism ,because it compares the crowds with people ,and i believe inorder to be correct,it should compare the crowds to the other crowds ,so i think 'A' is correct.

^ I don't think "those" refers to people. it could be crowds still. The problem is A, or the lack of, is that "had been" is perfectly fine. When you have an event in the past, you state another event before that using the past perfect, which in this class is "had been."

Can someone please write out as much of the sentence(s) that contain No Error please?

Only the one with the 'vessels'' contained no error .
So ,finally
WHAT THE HELL IS THE ANSWER OF q29 ,E or A ?

^^^ i know that it was the "Vessels" one... do u remember how the sentence went?

@CR7
why would "those" be incorrect when referring to crowds? hehe im confused XD wouldn't "those crowds" work, other than "these crowds"?

its my mistake,i checked this in a grammar book and think its fine.So ,what is the final ansewr ? A or E ?

If i get an 8 or 9 on essay, and 5 wrong, would i get on writing ?

This thread is a year old.

i put “several”

cuz several million rings or something
is redundant

“several million” is not redundant. “several” modifies “million.”

Anways, this is last January’s thread.
