The people who talked about Mao…if you’re using the context that I think you are, a really good idea.

Urban planning, personal experience, 1880s-1920s Progressive reformers vs. Mob bosses. I also used the word “chimerical”.

Are you implying that the readers do not judge without bias?

I used don quixote, a pedantic latinist in my life who wants to learn to speak perfect classical latin, and MLK. I couldn’t come up with a 2nd practical example, but it’ll be alright. Suddenly all these nice vocab words flew into my mind that I’ve barely even acknowledged before, such as nadir. My vocab was great but nothing too pedantic. It was practical, you might say. But yeah, I’ve never actually read don quixote but I’ve heard like two snippets and was able to craft a general exposition which appeared superficially detailed. I really do expect double digits, but who knows. I even made my handwriting legible. WOO!

^^
Yes, I am.

wow. how do you guys manage to talk about 3 topics? i had 2 body paragraphs and was running out of time…

Rosa Parks and Atticus Finch xD

Woodrow Wilson/WWI & Steve Jobs

Martin Luther King Jr. and Atticus Finch! :D

MLK, Patriots who were idealistic enough to go against the greatest army in the world, Britain, and Women’s rights movements? I failed

I only used Death of a Salesman and described it in detail.

just wondering, did everyone have the same essay? because i’m not seeing the connection between your guys’ examples and the prompt that i got.

Great Gatsby and Don Quixote

People on the East Coast got an essay along the lines of “Are practical approaches more valuable than idealistic ones?” while those on the West Coast (or so I hear) got something like “Is it better to learn from oneself or from others?”

Linux and Wikipedia

Jay gatsby bayboy

i used personal experience (mother’s cancer) for the whole essay.
i got 5 paragraphs in and both pages filled.
i think i supported my position pretty well…
i heard of people who got 10-12 just using one example.
will mine be able to score about 10?

Yup, with Mao, I said he thought the Great Leap Forward was going to be this AMAZING thing, but it turned out really bad, because he was dumb.
Not meaning to insult anyone, ahha.

I used Scout/Atticus from TKAMB, U. S Grant and an awful personal example to fill up space lol.

did anyone find it more difficult to come up with practical people compared to idealists? I guess that only furthers my argument against idealism. Did anyone argue FOR idealism? I can see how it would be done but it would have glaring flaws

^ I did. Not sure what you’re trying to say with your flaws comment; it’s a persuasive essay, not a matter of fact, so the only flaws could be in the formatting of the essay, not the content itself.
