January 2011 SAT

Okay screw that, discussing question time.
What did you guys put for the passage based question asking what is best meant by the sentence she “races” to write the letter or something. It was from the one on the granddaughter writing letters for her grandma. The choices I narrowed down were she thinks it’s a game or that she enjoys writing or something.
Another question from that passage: what did it mean when the grandma decided to learn how to write love? Was it because she wanted to further her writing skills or because she decided it was time to be more involved in writing the letters?

I also got 50/51 for the sequence one. Ahh, I doubled the sides for each extra layer of the hexagon so I put 1+6+12+24+48. I thought the math was harder than the practice tests in the blue book that I did, what’s the curve usually like? -1=750 or something?

when do we get results back??
and yea i got 61 for the hexagon, and put 50/51 for the other one
for the writing ones, i put to develop her writing more, but i forgot the other one
i screwed that section up because i thought it was experimental ><

@bandwagon - For the one where she races to write it I put she was eager/excited/anxious to write it or something like that I think. The second one I put the grandma wanted to become more involved in the writing of the letters.

@thestorm - ok thanks I got the same thing. And that sucks I almost doubled it too lol. The curve is not that harsh haha. -1 can be 800 or 780ish depending on the curve. I’ve gotten an 800 with a -1.

^^ YES!!! i absolutely hated that passage. dumb fiction

@Bandwagon, she “races” because she’s enthusiastic about her task, and her grandma wants to learn how to write “love” because she wants to play a more direct part in writing the letter.

Does anyone have info on which section for math was experimental?

I’m pretty sure I completely FAILED Critical Reading, but I think I aced the math and writing. My essay was okay, filled a page and a half, used big words. Could’ve done better, but I spent too much time thinking of what to write X)

I had two Critical Reading sections in a row =.= My least favorite section. I thought the vocab was really hard, not sure if that was just me. In practice tests I could usually get it down to 2 or 3 answers, but here I could barely even eliminate one. I almost died in that room. LONGEST 5 HOURS OF MY LIFE RIGHT THERE.

Oh, and the fire alarm went off with 30 minutes of the test left. Good times.

Thanks for the responses; those are exactly the answers I put.
I skipped the 50/51 question. As with the question on the parabola and its vertex, finding its slope. And I’m sure I also skipped another question in that section. That specific math section was such a mess for me :(

EDIT: Anyone remember the Gandhi question? What did you put?

@loldianielol enthusiastic was the word I was looking for haha.

i had a cr dummie, and please tell me section 4, with the rding passage about this girl going back to the ruins of her house was a dummie section…:'(

^Nope, that wasn’t experimental - I had math experimental today and that CR section was in my test.

Question… if I didn’t finish my essay what’s the best score I can possibly get? :/

I’m praying none of my CR were experimental… hoping for either section 7 (?) of math or writing to be.

@theroyal Depends, how far along were you? I was one sentence into my conclusion with a 2 body paragraphs before time was called, predicting a 10/11

are you sure we can discuss this :3 because we signed a form saying we can’t?

no sorry theroyal. u getting 8. 10 if u wrote a hemmingway master piece but thats hard to do in 25min. always fill up the 2 pgs.

@theroyal unfortunately, quantity factors a lot into the essay… but if you provided solid examples and backed them up with why they’re significant to your thesis, you should be fine.

alright, well I’m just going to hope for the best then. :p

This was my first time taking it…

Hopefully second time will be 2200+

for the dual passages about ecotourism, what was the answer to the question “Which of the following is true about passage 1 and 2 or something” where the answer choices look like passage 1 was a solution, and passage 2 was a criticism etccc
