January 2013 SAT test takers.

It's only one week away!!! Are y'all nervous??
I'd like to know what everyone's "target zone" is? & when we get our scores back, i'll create another thread for just the results.

Mine:

CR: 500 - 550.
M: 500 - 550
Writing: At least an 8 on the essay (I'm applying to a CSU so it doesn't matter.)

CR: 760-800(800 for very generous curve and I get lucky)
Math: 800
Writing: 0-2 wrong on MC, at least 10 essay
I’ll probably get in the 2300-2350 range.

I’m a senior and I will be taking it next Saturday for the last time. I currently have:
650 CR
700 M
760 W

Don’t really expect to improve M or W, just hope to get CR into the 700’s. Not applying anywhere all that competitive.

January 26 2013 – Doomsday
and how many vocab words have/will you guys memorize?
is it too late for me to start cramming =(

I’ll be spending next Saturday morning staring at the SAT for a few hours, so I don’t want that time to be wasted. I’m hoping for:

Anything below 1930, I’d be a bit disappointed in (as my PSAT was 193).
And a 1930-2000 would be ‘meh’ as it wasn’t really progress, but it wasn’t regression.
2000+ overall I’d be pretty happy with.
2100+ I’d be incredibly happy with.
2200+ I’d have to check the name at the top again.

Based off of my most recent PSAT (193; 62 CR, 67 M, 64 W)
I’m really hoping for a 700-740 in math.
650+ in CR, but this one is always iffy, even though I improved from 51-62 from the Sophomore to Junior PSAT.
And 700+ in writing as I’ve focused mostly on that in the recent month or so. A 10+ on the essay would be nice.

just memorize 250 Sparknote’s most difficult list and those from the blue book.

I actually I have no idea what my “target” score is because I just got my psat’s back last week and got a 170. But I’ve been getting 1850-1900s on practice tests so I’ve either improved a lot since October, or been taking easy practice tests with generous curves.

It’s my first SAT, so I’m half nervous to see where my skill level is actually at, but half comfortable knowing I could easily improve in a couple months either for the March or June SATs. Plus I’m planning on taking three so the same story will go after my second time around.

I’m a junior and this’ll be my first attempt at the SAT.

CR: 700 or higher. It ultimately depends on the amount of difficult vocab present on the test.
M: Nothing less than 750.
W: Hoping for around 750, but won’t be surprised with less.
E: 10+. I can write a pretty good essay.
There’s no way that I’ll be able to match my PSAT score (228) this month, after taking a 2.5 month study hiatus.

Hmmm…I’m actually kinda sad that I probably won’t be able to reach my PSAT score (237, no prep) since apparently I just got really lucky for it XD
But anyway, I’m a sophomore, taking it for the first time, my practice SATs have been:
M: 800
CR: 770-800
W: 710-760 :frowning:
E: 10/11

I really want 2350+, but the Writing section is dragging me down…I’m hoping to get 800 for Math and CR so that I have a bit more leeway for Writing mistakes. I’ll probably end up somewhere around 2300.

I am only in 8th grade, but my average scores have been like this:

  • Writing= 640 Essay: 8+
  • Math= 700
  • Critical Reading= 590
This is my 1st official test so I am really kind of nervous…:(

I seriously need to get my critical reading up and writing to combined 1300…I guess for all of those last-minute crammers, just go in with confidence that you can do well and prep as much as possible(thats what one of my friends who got a 2380 told me)…

I’m a junior and I’m taking the SAT for the first time this Saturday. I’m kinda excited, kinda freaked out because I probably should have been studying.

My practice SATs (averaging):

CR: 630ish (As long as they don’t throw me one of those intense readings about quantum physics)
M: 620ish
W: 700ish
E: 11-12

Personally I’m aiming at breaking 2000, a great score for me would be 2100+. :stuck_out_tongue: A friend of mine got 2300 on his first try so I’m sure you could break 2350!

DS just wants to beat his PSAT score. Best of luck to all!

800: math
750-800: reading
700-800: writing
I’m really nervous about the writing part, I’ve been doing a lot of practice tests but my score doesn’t seem to change…

aiming to break 700 in CR(670), 750 in math(700), and 760 with ATLEAST 8 essay( 6 and 5 last times…)does anyone know here you can find more practice tests?, ive completed BB, and already did the 2012 - 2013 online, as well as 2011 - 12. ive heard the most recent test on BB is 2007. any palce where I can find the collegeboard tests released from 08, 09, 2010?

VERY nervous. I’m a Junior and this will be my first official SAT. I plan to take it again no matter how good (or bad) I do. And I’m taking the February ACT in about two weeks, yikes! I want to see which I’m better at and so far I’m predicting I may be slightly better in the ACT but we will see. My full length practice tests range from mid 1800s - mid 1900s… My target score is 2000s but I doubt I will get that this time since my practice tests are from the Blue Book. I think my Reading Section will be a definite factor in how good I do because it’s the lowest and has the biggest range based on practice tests.

I think I am a great writer (I am also good at writing timed essays in classes such as APUSH and AP English Lang and Comp) but I never had anyone grade my SAT essays but myself which I feel I may be biased on? Anyone else in my situation? I’m hoping from a score of 8 - 10 for my essays ( at least that’s what I give myself).

I’m hoping I get a good essay prompt, if I get bullsh** one that is like “are the arts absolutely necessary?” or “if people worked less, would they be more active in their free time?” I’ll probably get a 4 or less.

As a senior looking back, I can’t believe I survived the SAT craze. It was a year ago when I took my first SAT.

I’m no authority on the SAT’s, but I would like to recommend everyone to relax.
I mean it!
Relax. Go to bed on time. Eat your favorite dinner/breakfast.
It really is only one part of your college application. Essays are just as important if not more.

I’ll be praying for you guys! Good luck!

^ ur in thailand?! wooow… not for studying right?! hahahahaa… am nosy… :stuck_out_tongue:
i’ve always wanted to go…

anyway… pray for me too!
I hope we all get the grades we want… although that wud make the curve preeetty harsh… (lol… see how altruistic i am?!. hahahaha)

Just hoping for 750+ on WR

Already scored 800, 780 on Math/CR in Dec, so just needa boost up my writing score and I’ll be good since most schools superscore. (Although a 800 CR wouldn’t be too bad :)

@2200andbeyondXD
I will surely pray for you!
I hope that you will get 2200+ like your screen name :)

P.S: I am in Thailand for school. Yes, really! haha. I go to an international school here.
