January 8th SSAT

Good luck all first times and retakers!!

I only have a week, but I'm going to try to get through the princeton review prep book before the test... :P

thanx i feel ready and all but im scared i mess up bad :(

good luck to you too :)

Good luck everyone~

I’m taking it for the 3rd and last time… :)

@bluedots,why so many times?

@maddog
My scores weren’t really good (as in below average of most of the schools I’m applying to) n I think I could get a better score if I spent more time preparing.

This is my second time taking it… all my previous scores are fine except for one, which was a 48. I figure I should at least try to get it up to a 70.

Hello! :slight_smile: I’m taking the Jan 8th SSAT too!
Just started preparing :slight_smile: Good luck to you!

I’m also retaking to focus on one area…a little worried that my other scores might go down though. I guess if one can go up significantly from test to test, they can also go down. Do schools take the highest score in each area?

@bluedog
when you retake do you have to pay again?

aldogirl -

Most schools will tell you that they look at the high score only in each area, so if your score on one section goes up, but your score on another goes down, you should not be penalized. At some schools, as I understand it, the sorting is done before the reports ever get to the admissions officers - so they don’t even see your lower scores.

sundlun - You have to pay each time you take the test (unless there was an actual problem with the test administration itself).

last year i got 98 in math, 97 in reading, and 94 in vocab and im afraid i wont do as well D:

Why are you retaking ?

wow…I feel so lucky.
I got 99% on Math
I got 99% on Verbal
I got 97% on Reading
99% Overall :smiley:
GOOD LUCK ALLS!

@sundlun
Yeah you have to pay each time you take it

im retaking for like a new application year not because i wasnt satisfied with my scores lol…

Ohh that makes sense.

hey if i scheduled a test for january 8th but i’m not going (since im happy with my december score) do i still need to contact ssat/ the school that i’m not going? and how should i contact them?

sorry, I just have 1 quick question:
Is it ok to use a pen in the exam? I haven’t used a pencil in years

@dhurly23- No… It’s not OK to use a pen on the exam. For filling in the bubbles, you have to use a 2H pencil. However, for the essay, it is required to write with a pen, which the test center will provide you.

Correct me if I’m wrong.

And ur not allowed use a calculator. Is that right?

Can u do much study for the SSAT?
