January Critical Reading SAT Thread

the answer is (probably) ill-conceived failure and not imitation

Was this the question about the X junk, moral junk and educational junk? Because the next clause of the sentence said how "they" (the ones who percieve comic books to be educational) made attempts to show how they were not educational - which the author of passage 2 agrees with, thus their argument is ill-conceived. At the beginning of the paragraph the writer even said that comics were not educational, thus it is a ill-conceived failure (not imitation).

minitie do u rememeber the other choices for this answer

The answer was "ill-conceived failure". It wasn't an imitation, and it wasn't misunderstood... people knew that some of the comics were made for education, but the author of the passage basically said that was stupid because comics aren't meant to educate.

lol, no sry, if you repeat it to me I'll recognize it but I don't remember the exact wording

i think the 3 theys was like to indicate how comics shortchange kids?

YES! Shortchange kids was the answer I put.

yay I put shortchange kids too!

This thread is making me feel better. Hopefully my CR grade is in the 700s this time around!

i think i got almost all of the vocab wrong but all of the comprehension questions right

Was "regular" in the in the Puerto Rican girl passage "unvarying" or "recurring ?" Also, was the one question "sprawling" or "desolate." I think I fell asleep on that one and picked "sprawling."

Hey can anyone tell me about these two passages?
I've seen both before, and were wondering whether it was on a previous SAT (I've only taken it in April 2006), or a review book, psat, or what?

Literary Critic who talks about Willa Cather's work and reading about her (I had this one)
Hiking, how scary the woods are, and admiring hikers who camp out in the deep woods (My friend had this one)

wait...maybe I put uniform , not sure when i think about it now...

unvaring and uniform are very similar

I put desolate for that one.
And I put unvarying for the other one.

eh i put like uniform and something else. Probably wrong.

the passage about hiking was on the psat this year, williamsf1 fan.

I put regular=unvarying

what did u put for the passage with the definition of "hanging"....the two men canoeing

was it like flowing or suspended?

suspended.

I put suspended as well
