I got a big packet from Ritsumeikan Daigaku (in Kyoto) recently, with my address hand-written out and a thick application booklet. The envelope, app, and info packet were all customized for my major, International Relations. Their program is entirely in English, geared for non-Japanese students. The school is one of the top 10 in Japan.

They pick 10 students per semester.

... so why me? I'm not that good gradewise, but I love IR and I love Japan. The tuition is 1.2 million Yen (roughly $16,000 USD) a year. The application fee is 30,000 Yen ($400) itself.

Has anyone ever gotten mail from Japan? Anyone ever went to college there (taught in English)? Whats your opinion on the cost/study?

I'm not really that interested, but since its so personalized, I might be interested for grad school.
