Japanese major, cool/cold climate

Also check out Knox College. Although it appears to offer only a minor (not major) in Japanese, it does appear to have a fairly comprehensive offering of courses, as well as a Japan Term which is an immersion program with study abroad in Japan.

What do you think of International Christian University (ICU)? I heard great things about this school. Good LAC in Tokyo. I am also thinking about sending my son to one of these universities for a semester or summer.

ICU is a great school, I have friends who are graduates and friends on the faculty, and they all love the school. It was one of the first Japanese universities to have a more Western, international approach. ICU is in the suburbs of Tokyo, but the train system makes everything very accessible. Sophia University is another school you might want to take a look at in Tokyo.

Very interesting - arigatoo gozaimasu!

With 4 years under your belt, make sure there’ll be enough to sustain you. There are lots of programs that do a great job of getting a beginner to conversational proficiency, but far fewer that can support an interest in literature, etc. Far easier to find this where there is a good grad school.

This is a good argument for looking at bigger programs like, say, UC Boulder. Thanks!
