Chance me please! I will reply to your posts!

Hi, I'm applying to UW seattle and I have an SAT score of 1790 with a 3.9 GPA. I'm taking two IB classes IB calculus and IB chemistry II along with three college classes at a local college. I plan to get my AA degree by the time I graduate high school. I have volunteered for about 3 years at a food shelter. What are my chances..? I am Japanese, and moved here when I was about 11 years old. I wrote my essay on how I had to learn a new language when I moved here, along with my knowledge of the similarities and differences that I saw between the culture of Japan and the United States.

Aside from your slightly below average SAT score, you actually are a pretty solid applicant. But that is also based on how well your essays were. Your course rigor and gpa look great as well as the volunteering. In-state helps if you are one.

YEah, but I also heard that they’re accepting more out of state students than instate. Also, I’m Japanese and there are plenty of other Asian guys who have better records than I do haha.

There was a rule that was passed that required UW to accept a certain number of in-state students, I believe 4000. And because not all of them will go, they are going to accept some more on top of that to compensate for those that don’t decide to go there. Not to mention that there were less in-state applicants this year than the year before. There was also an article on CC about this. I wouldn’t worry about that whole racial thing either, they don’t really compare you to others of the same race.

I am Asian and maybe not better than you.
Your GPA is strong, Good luck.

Your GPA looks good, and overall you seem to have a solid chance. Especially with those IB courses. Good luck!
