JD/MBA Straight From Undergrad?

Is this possible given adequate gpa + test scores?

i'm currently a poli sci major - public policy with a minor in econ.. 3.8+ gpa and will be taking the GMAT soon.... I go to uc san diego

I'm talking in reference to a top 25 b school

thanks

I know it’s possible at NYU. It would be best if you have extremely high LSAT (175+), and previous finance/business related internships.

Thanks for your response. What about a Berkeley, UCLA, USC, or Northwestern?

175 is awfully high any advice on how to achieve that?

are you at b or law school now?

JD/MBA is a pretty useless degree. The two doesn’t relate very well. If you go into an MBA program without work experience, it would be very difficult for you to get a job. Most roles require 3-5 years of experience, unless you are planning to go into ibanking or consulting. But you can go into ibanking and consulting from a T14 law school, no MBA neccessary.

A JD and MBA complement one another extremely well. I don’t know where you are coming up with it being a useless degree because that it simply incorrect.

+1 to liu02bhs’ post (although it’s very very difficult to get into ibanking or consulting from a law school, and is still very difficult even if you have experience in those fields before LS)

You won’t have a problem getting a legal job with no work experience, but MBA employers are hiring from a diverse group of students who have substantive work experience. Being a 24 year old with no work experience is not going to get you into prestigious businesses with an MBA.

I seriously considered getting my JD/MBA, but did my research and realized it would’ve been a waste of money and time.

On the other hand, let’s face it, being a 24 year old with average work experience is not exactly going to vault you to a high prestige employer either. In fact, a 24 year old with an elite MBA or law degree surely has a better chance of joining a high prestige employer than will just having 2 years of average work experience and nothing else.

^^ OP will be a 21-22 year old with no working experience, wishing to get MBA/JD degree in a top 25 school. What are his chances for admission, that is the important question.

The 3 posts prior to mine had nothing to do with that question, but rather were regarding the value of such a joint degree assuming that the OP could get it in the first place.
