my committee said we would all be receiving an email or letter this week letting us know our status. they said sometimes they do a second round of interviews but other times they just select people after the one round.

yea, i had mine today too, central va region. I asked my interviewers what happens next and they said if i made the second round id get a phone call this evening. EEEEP!! if not, they send you a letter thats like blah blah thanks for participating blah blah blah

Does anyone know if students who have not been offered a regional interview are necessarily out of the running for a Jefferson? Our high school is unable to endorse anyone for a Jefferson so our son was hoping for an at-large type of chance. He is a semifinalist for two other major scholarships at ACC schools so far and is a double legacy at UVA.

never mind! I, duh, found the answer to my own question on the Jefferson website. All applicants have a chance, whether their school is allowed to endorse or not. And I suppose that would mean they skip the regional interview step.

yea you’re right! The admissions office can nominate people from schools who arent in a “region” or whos schools cannot nominate. They obviously dont have an interview and would go directly to the charlottesville weekend. There are very very few selected for this though, bc they are chosen out of such a large group

Hey! Is anyone from the Massachusetts/lower New Hampshire region? I had my interview last weekend but I’m not sure what the process is for this region. I just know that a ton of people are generally nominated/interviewed from these two states, and was wondering if there is a second interview round or if instead we’re going to hear our decision soon.

I’m not moving on… o well! guess I’ll just have to wait until April to find out:(

@Cavalier1993: I am! Had my interview in Boston last week, but I have no idea when I’m supposed to hear the results or whether there is another round of regional interviews.

@durufle Yeah, I still haven’t heard anything yet either! I did some additional research too, and on the website for the Jefferson Scholarship it says that nominees will be notified of their standing no later than early February. So I guess we wait until then! If you find out anything let me know!

Interesting. My child’s regional interview is this weekend while it sounds like some other regions are done and decided.

yea me neither brit8910…well good luck to all the finalists!

I’m from the Boston area and have my interview tomorrow! I was very surprised to receive the invitation, since I was not so confident in my application. Hopefully all goes well; I was just deferred from UVa, and heard a rumor that they can recommend you for admissions if they like you during the process. Fingers crossed!

So February 1st is today, and I still haven’t heard anything from my region Already had my interview and they said they’d let us all know today. Any ideas of what to do?

Patience, grasshopper.

Hey. My D hasn’t heard anything yet? Any one with any news?

Same here, no news! The Jeff Foundation website says ‘February’, rather than ‘February 1st’ as the time we’ll be notified…fingers crossed. I just want to know as soon as possible either way. But I think the way it works is that your regional committee can tell you when they’ve made up their mind, but if they don’t do that, there’s also a day when the foundation emails everyone to tell them their decision. My region didn’t say anything about when I’d hear back.

I believe most individuals invited to the National Selection Weekend should have received a letter in the mail from the Foundation with information. I can’t imagine they could wait much longer because of the amount of planning that must go into the upcoming weekend…
