Jefferson Scholars Interviews

Any nominee's been contacted for their interview yet? If we aren't selected for an interview, are we going to know?

In past years, the interviews were set up around this time, but the super storm could have delayed things because of the extra time to submit applications.

Thanks.

My DD received a call from her interviewer over the weekend. I was surprised that she wanted to schedule the interview very quickly, within a couple days. They are meeting tomorrow.

okay thanks for letting me know. Just curious, what region are you located in?

Sent from my DROID X2 using CC

We are in the Cincinnati, OH region.

has anyone else been contacted? I’m in VA and I haven’t been, and just hope that this doesn’t indicate that I didn’t make it past the first step of the process.

We are in NJ and my DD applied and got an email about an interview in January. It sounded like they were interviewing everyone, and did not appear to indicate that she had made it through any sort of screening process. I think they said they were interviewing 70 kids in northern NJ alone. Second or third interview would indicate you made it through, but we haven’t gotten that far.

My daughter has not been contacted for interview and we live in Virginia.

Does anyone know when “at large” candidates enter the process for consideration? Those are candidates who are from hometowns not on the list for interview locations. Also, does anyone know how many “at large” candidates actually are selected?

Spacecoast–do not know the answer to your question, sorry.

My son received email, too, regarding interview. I think in jan. But not 100% on that.

in Virginia and just got contacted for an early January interview.

does anybody know if the at-large candidates have already been contacted?

My D had her interview today. Lots of questions on politics specially foreign policy .

Mine was yesterday. Many on Catholic Church scandals (I’m Catholic) and on my generation’s attributes. The most interesting interview I’ve had by far!

I was interviewed yesterday by 4 lawyers from the same law firm in a conference room. Now THAT was an experience to say the least.

As far as topics go, I seem to not have been asked any questions focusing on more global issues. If I remember correctly, every question was directed specifically at who I was as a person and what I did.

Were any of you at large candidates?

Did anyone who had their interview hear when the next round decisions would be made?

Like some others here, I’ve been trying to figure out whether any at-large candidates have been selected yet. I know of two very strong candidates from our local HS (highly regarded public HS in MA) who haven’t heard anything. So either we don’t understand the at-large selection criteria (entirely possible), or this part of the selection hasn’t been completed yet. Has it begun?

Does anyone have any more info on this?

Contact information for the Jefferson Scholars Foundation. I’m sure they would be happy to let you know the timeline for notification of at large candidates.

Thanks, Blue. Helpful suggestion, and even more helpful to have the contact info right in your post.

I got a response from the Foundation, saying “It won’t begin until early February”.

So I’m inferring that they’re waiting for EA decisions before creating the initial selection list.

Thank you blueiguana for posting this link, and exstudent for calling and posting this information regarding at-large candidates. This is helpful and encouraging.
