My son also received a letter. 436qj, is that 39 from NJ? I didn't see my son's letter. He just told me to put it on the calendar.

yes. it says "thirty nine new jersey nominations were made this year. we will interview all of the nominees during the weekend of January 20 & 21, 2007."

Yeah, I got an interview letter just saying I'd have mine either the 7th, 8th, or 9th of January and I'd be informed about specifics through another letter. That's all I know.

So does everyone get an interview or not? I'm confused.

i dont know if everyone gets an interview?? I want to know!!! my interview was scheduled for 11:10 on jan. 6

Mine's on Jan. 27

My D hasn't gotten any letter yet about an interview, but she only put her app in a week ago....Anyone think she'll hear soon??

Isn't that way passed the deadline?

yeah, the deadline was November 6!!!

"My D hasn't gotten any letter yet about an interview, but she only put her app in a week ago....Anyone think she'll hear soon??"

Maybe you're talking about the UVa app. This is a separate application.

My interview's on Jan 13th, and I'm in the Atlanta region. btw, for those people with early interviews, would you guys post the questions they ask you? that'd be super helpful

Sorry, I wasn't clear. Yes, she DID submit the Jeff Scholars app before Nov 6th, but she didn't submit the UVA app until Dec 17th. I am sure they won't interview scholars applicants until they are sure those kids are actually going to apply to the school.

what kind of questions do they ask? is it more "getting to know you" questions or is it more "right or wrong answer" questions?

The Jefferson Scholar process is entirely separate from the admissions office. My S received notification of his interview and has not yet submitted the UVA application. His letter said about 75% of those nominated in our region will be interviewed.

mcmom (is the a reference to mcdreamy!?!?), what region are your from??

can someone answer my last question about the types of questions asked???

To MCMom: Thanks for the info...didn't know that. I hope MC doesn't stand for Montgomery County, or does it? If so, then I guess my D may not get an interview. Let me know...good luck to your son.

bumppppppppp

You can ask your guidance counselor or some teachers if someone will do a mock interview with you. Ask them to ask really hard questions (especially about things like what your weaknesses are or about awkward things on your transcript). Once you get used to handling the most difficult questions, the Jeff interview questions will seem amazingly easy to handle and you'll be amazed at how smooth and confident you feel.

My cousin says this is the strategy that worked for him at the University. I did it for a summer job interview and it worked for me.

Good luck.

YES...my D got her interview date: January 11th.

I'm from Montgomery County, MD!
