Jefferson Scholarship Nominees

^^^I wanted to edit my answer to add that she was told in that email that after review of her application, she has advanced to the regional interview stage and will be notified of the date of her interview shortly.

Haha okay I’ll just pay attention for some kind of notification!
Jefferson would be a dream come true <3

What region are you in? I have not received any information and am getting a little discouraged.

My daughter received an email at the end of November stating that her application was received and she will hear back shortly regarding the next step. She also received a letter on her portal dated November 24 basically congratulating her and saying if she is chosen for an interview she will be contacted in January. On December 2 she received another email stating her application was reviewed and was going to the regional stage, but there was no mention of an interview. I am not sure whether everybody gets an interview at the regional stage? She just sent an email asking when she may expect to hear back, and if she will be told regardless.

@twogirls‌ , my daughter pretty much got the same emails as your daughter did. The last email in early December said she was going to the regional stage. I am assuming that application is reviewed at the regional level and they decide who is called for local interviews. My D is still waiting to hear about the interview.

My daughter sent an email asking when she would hear back and if she would be told regardless (see above) and today she got a response saying that many of the committees are just starting to meet now and that nominees will be contacted within the next few weeks. if you do not get an interview you are told.

Hello from England, guys.
My interview is scheduled for next Monday or Tuesday. They got in contact with me yesterday, so assuming you all have the same experience, you may be notified on rather short notice. Good luck to you all, and maybe I can give some sort of heads up on what the interview’s about next week.
~77

were you contacted via email or snail mail?

Good luck to the folks that have interviews in the next couple days.
My daughters interview is scheduled for the 30th.

Just to clarify, not everyone receives a first round interview?

No. You will be told either way.

@Serendipity77 Did you received a notification through email?? I’m a nominee from Nicaragua, received a notification that I was moving to the regional stage in early December, but haven’t yet received any info about an interview. I’m going to wait until Monday, and if I don’t receive anything, I’ll write to them.

I’m starting to worry, last year by this date most people had received a notification.

I had my interview yesterday. I don’t think it went so well. I had the longest interview of the four people who went in at the same time but I just don’t know.

@BeeSaysHey‌ I guess a long interview is good. It probably means they liked what you had to say. What kind of questions did they ask?

I still haven’t heard anything in the northeast and starting to lose hope. Anyone else from NY/NJ area heard anything?

Tri- state area here. My daughter emailed the committee and she was told ( just a few days ago) that most of the committees have not met yet or they are just beginning to meet now. She was told to hang on and she will hear back in the coming weeks. They tell you either way.

Thanks for the info!!

@LoudounMom‌ They asked me what other colleges I applied to (like, that was the first question), what books I liked (because I wrote about being president of my school’s book club), things about leadership, historical figures I liked. I talked about what I liked about UVA and asked them about the school traditions and the college itself. All in all, it lasted about a half hour, I think.

Hey y’all,
I know that this whole process can be confusing, nerve-wracking and challenging. I went through this whole process recently and I’d love to answer any of your questions. Message me your questions and I’d be happy to help!

Daughter has local interview (georgia) next Saturday if that helps anyone.
