I’ve been looking at the decisions threads, and from what I’ve seen (and heard from my friends, who were at M&TSI and knew a lot of people applying early to M&T) practically NO ONE has gotten into M&T. It seems a looot less than previous years; does anyone know of people who got in, or can anyone account for the low numbers (even by M&T standards)?

maybe they're just not on this board. are you sure no one on this board got in?

joyx905 is listed as MT.........I'd say the folks are just not on CC.

That still makes just one person.. add that to two others I've heard (from M&TSI- I thought more people would get in from there at least) and that makes three people in the country I've heard of getting in..

yea thats three you knwo if in the country...and maybe 50 total get in for the entire world...think about that...

Someone at Penn told me that people who apply to those special programs (like M&T, huntsman) are almost always deferred. since they're so competitive, they want to see all potential candidates before accepting them. not to mention that ED applicants went up 21%...so im assuming they're deferring so much because they want to see what kind of people will apply for RD (since their popularity has gone up quite a bit thanks to rankings...)

damn =(

I Got Innnn!!!!!

I can't imagine a program as selective as that at Penn taking RD applicants very seriously.

How many do you suppose they take ED? 20... 30? If the deferral rate is so high, maybe they only took 3 so there are still 52 spots left!! =P

or um they just aren't on CC? i know of another person that got into M&T...

ummmm...yeah I doubt all of Penn applicants are cc'ers. I have to agree with joy:)

or um I was joking. But anyway, how many do you suppose suppose they take ED?

I had applied to M&T but I had specified that I wanted them to consider me for SEAS in the ED round too, so I was rejected from M&T but accepted in SEAS!! :D

Hey...im an M&T freshman. I applied RD. M&T enrolled 62 my year (a lot!) so I'm guessing they just want to keep the numbers down.

62! wow. thats a lot. How many of them were int'ls? Are M&Ters a lot more qualified than other applicants?

i dunno exactly how many internationals, but there definately are a ton of indians and asians (intl and not). As for qualifications, we're not necessarily better qualified (a lot of kids here were like the "perfect well-rounded person") but I feel that we all have a sense of what we want to do with our lives and how to accomplish it.

indians LOL. you're talking to one aspiring M&T indian here ;)

I talked with Ms. Engle at M&T. Most M&T applicants get deferred. It's nothing new or special.
