Hey everyone. I am filling out the housing application, and I have no idea which to put as my first choice between jewett and anderson. Can anyone tell me some of the differences please? I know a little (location and such) but I would love some more input!

I didnt like Jewett much when i visited.

Just my two cents

There’s a discussion of this very topic on the facebook group for this year’s class. Though it is a year old, most of the stuff is still relevant.

[which dorm do you want to live in? | Facebook](http://www.new.facebook.com/topic.php?uid=15716260622&topic=3561)

I live in Jewett this year, but I have a lot of friends in Anderson. This year, they are very different but usually draw the same types of people. I wouldn’t worry too much about it. They are practically interchangeable. Usually, Jewett is known as the “party” dorm, mostly because it is right next to the frats, but I think Anderson has more parties this year. At least, they have more smaller parties in their rooms, it feels like. Jewett’s sections tend to be very close because of the way it is laid out. I live in the all girls section, the Pit, in the bottom floor. It’s pretty cool, but we don’t really associate with the 3rd or 4th floor that much. The guys we usually talk to are the guys of 2-west right above us, and some people have guy friends from the 3rd floor. I know the girls section on the 3rd floor this year isn’t very cohesive at all, which is unusual, I think, but my best friend here lives on that floor. The 4th floor is really tight (maybe because it’s co-ed), especially the east section. They only hang out with each other, which is cool for them I guess but no one else really knows them. With Anderson, it seems like people are closer throughout the whole dorm. This is also probably because of how it’s laid out. That being said, I would have probably picked Anderson if I had known this, but oh well. There’s not too big of a difference, and I really think it changes from year to year. Also, there is a rumor that certain sections in Anderson might be co-ed next year, so keep that in mind. Either way though, you’ll either be fine with where you live or, by chance, you’ll make all your friends in the other dorm and end up switching half way through the year. Don’t really overthink it though, since I’ve said quite a few times by now that you can never tell with these dorms. Although, maybe their reputations are beginning to switch…(i.e. 2-west used to be known as some crazy guys hall filled, and now there are a bunch of really cool guys there that aren’t so wild as the years before)

Thank you maggie02. this was really helpful.
i did end up choosing anderson as my first choice, and now i really hope i get in! although if i don’t, i feel like it wouldn’t be so different in Jewett.
Thanks again
