So I'm helping my friend's brother develop a list of schools to apply to, and I want to know if anyone has any information about the Jewish life at Ole Miss.

This school has almost everything he wants, a more moderate/conservative student body, plenty of traditions, rah-rah environment, and a larger school in a small town. Most importantly, he knows that he'll get in (has a 3.01W/ 1270 CR/M) and can afford to pay for it. But the one drawback is that I can't find any information about the UM Jewish Community. Does anyone know: how active it is, how many students are part of it, or other pertinent information about the club?

Thanks!

Hillel has a website that has information about Jewish life on campuses. In general, state schools in states that have a small Jewish population do not have large Hillel groups.
There’s a long thread on CC that could be helpful

If you post your friend’s stats and what he is looking for on it, there are parents who are familiar with Jewish life at various schools who can make some suggestions for your friend’s brother.

Post as much as you can without identifying him: ie, major or academic area of interest, size of school, stats.

The people mentioned is this article might help you get some of your questions answered about Jewish life at Ole Miss…I would think that the student interviewed has graduated, but the advisors and faculty might be a good starting point.

It is my impression that a solid majority of the freshmen at Ole Miss are social conservatives as well as economic conservatives. If he is socially conservative, Ole Miss may be a good fit for him.

Info on all religious orgs at Ole Miss – including the UM Jewish Community (Hillel). It’s a small, but great group of students who meet at with faculty members and other students on campus.
