Jewish schools

Hi. im just wondering what are some jewish schools (like brandeis) there are where i would be almost guaranteed admissions from my stats and extra curriculars...

umm, SAT - 2070
M-730
CR-660
WR-680
GPA - 3.7 W, explained by Guidance Counselor that during junior i had shingles+surgery, missed a month of school so GPA not as high as could/should be

Vice President FBLA
Editor School Paper
Founder of Own Tutoring Business
Captain + All State Debate
Varsity Track
Varsity Wrestling
bunch of others but those r the main ones.

So, like, definate certainties for schools with traiditonally a high percentage of jewish student population. thanks!

Try the University of Maryland at College Park.
Also check out U Mass at Amherst

You're a strong candidate for Boston University, which has a fairly new Hillel and kosher dining options. But you shouldn't choose a school based solely on the Jewish population. Cost of attendance, academics, urban/rural...?

If you are defining Jewish school as a high percentage of Jews, then a whole lot of the east coast schools with fit that description. Brandeis is the only secular one that is over 50% Jewish though (and that's just barely anyway, 55%). UMD is good, so is UF... although I wouldn't call either automatic entry unless you care to share with us which state you live in.

You could probably call Yeshiva University a safety though, that is an excellent school and is most certainly a Jewish one.... though I dunno if you are big on Orthodox Judaism.

although just fyi-- yeshiva university is split stern colleg for women and yu for men... they are both in the city tho

and ya, orthodox judaims is pretty much a must for them

The University of Florida probably has the highest percentage of jewish students in comparison to any other public flagship university.

Michigan has a very large jewish population

It is jokingly referred to as the "Jewniversity of Michigan" :)

www.hillel.org will let you see jewish populations of most schools

ya, i was just at BU the other day, and their new Hillel is really nice. It is a major plus for me that, even though my family is not that religous, i can still go to a passover cedar if i want.

Your stats would give you a good shot at Maryland. Large Jewish population. Lots of Jewish organizations. Kosher dining available. Right outside Washington, DC, with easy access to the city. The town is a dump, though.

Irishdarling, not only are there Passover seders at the BU Hillel, but the kitchen also serves kosher for Passover meals all week. S ate strictly at Hillel during Pesach.

a few reaches included but you can look at: uconn, nyu, tufts, brandeis, wesleyan, rutgers, binghamton, bu, maryland, muhlenberg, tulane, michigan, florida, emory, clark, gw, mcgill, skidmore, syracuse, rochester

Tufts could be a match-reach

American University in DC

UPenn has a ton of Jewish kids...

By the way- if you want to go to an actual Jewish school, like Yeshiva University, DON'T! You will regret it for the rest of your life.

I go to a Jewish high school and it is beyond hell. And it's just high school. Imagine going to a college where among "no doing drugs" the rules include "no holding hands with guys" and "no electronics on saturday."
