JHU Advanced Academic Programs (AAP) = JHU Lite?

I got accepted to both the MA Government and MS Econ programs and took classes in each. The government program is a joke. The class I took was equivalent to a high school level civics class. I discontinued that program and applied to the econ program instead (econ being my undergraduate degree). I was in that program for two semesters before deciding it, too, was a joke. Personally, I didn’t think either program was worth paying $4,000 per class for. It was obvious that both programs let everyone who applies in. I dropped JHU entirely and am applying to real schools, where at least I will feel some sense of accomplishment for having passed some threshold, ANY threshold, to be admitted. Also, by my research, the econ/business programs don’t seem to be accredited at JHU (AACSB at least). So, that may be worth considering if you want to use the econ program to get into a licensed profession (say trade/customs). Most people in AAP seem to have a singular ambition to work for the US government though, so maybe accreditation doesn’t matter to them. I wanted to make JHU work because the Hopkins brand name is so good, even internationally. But frankly AAP is an embarrassment that will not help your career or your knowledge base. Save your dignity and apply to a university where your experience won’t feel easy and cheap. You are better than this program, trust me.

^Just apply to the actual rigorous Hopkins graduate programs (which require GREs, essays, recs, and transcripts) then and do part time then.
