I recently received a very good financial aid package from Johns Hopkins for my freshman year, a total of around $46,000 dollars. This package is makes going there extremely tempting, but I am concerned about whether or not the financial aid packages for the subsequent years will be comparable to this one. I would really hate to see them use this freshman financial aid package as a "hooker" to get me to choose their school, and then dramatically decrease the aid amount for the next three years. Does anyone have any experience, thoughts, or ideas regarding this sort of situation? If so, I would greatly appreciate hearing about it.

Schools don't seem to use financial aid that way. If they did, word would get out and the school would be doomed. Thus, if the EFC stays the same from year to year, the aid and the way it is composed will stay basically the same.

You do have to pay attention to merit awards that are reduced if GPA falls below a certain target, but those targets are usually well publicized.
