My oldest daughter was recently accepted at Johns Hopkins fo its first full-time MBA class--also offered a tuition break (Dean's Scholarship). I'd be interested in hearing poster's views on the pros/cons of being in the first MBA class. D also applied to Georgetown, U Maryland (still has interview there) and GWU. She's committed to the DC area--her husband was accepted to a graduate program at JHU.

JHU’s Carey school of business is a brand new school as of this year I think. That being said they have a great board of overseers and Dean Gupta knows his stuff (ex-dean of USC’s business school). The global mba program they just setup sounds particularly interesting. With the weight of the people behind Carey, I don’t doubt that this program will quickly rise through the ranks once they get a few graduated classes behind them.

To answer your question, the pros would of course be more personal support as they want to make sure their first class is successful as possible. Cons would be wondering what their internship/recruitment opportunities are like but I’m sure they’ll address that wen she visits an info session or goes for a tour of their downtown campus building.
