JHU International Studies (IR) or NYU Stern? - Grading wise-

Hi, I am having a hard time choosing between JHU and NYU Stern. I am an international student attending at a private boarding school, and I am planning to go back to my country, to go to a Law School there. THe thing is, for law schools, it doesn't matter what I study as an undergraduate major, but International Studies major will definitely be helpful. But the thing is, I need a 3.8+ GPA to go back to my hometown. And I've heard the awful grading scales at Johns Hopkins, and the notorious competition among BME students. How is the grading system at Johns Hopkins as an International Studies major? Are the professors' expectations unreachably high? How much of the students in their classes usually get As?

As a student individual, I can't decide which school will fit me better. I am an all-rounded student who is more interested in english, language, and culture studies, but my grades seem to excel in math and science too. It's just that math and science without any literature will make my life miserable...

Any recommendations?

Thanks.

hey I’m an IS major. can I ask what Law school requires a 3.8 GPA from Undergrad, regardless of the school? My Uncle used to be a Vice Dean of a law school and still is a professor at one (one of the top) and he told me that they know about Hopkins GPA and so they treat a lower GPA from Hopkins just as well as a higher GPA elsewhere.

Also, the JHU IS program is one of the best around. Grading is different class by class but I have noticed that the curve is higher in upper level classes (lower levels usually curve to a B while upper levels curve to a B+/A-)

You’re going to have to work hard at either school, so you should pick the school that you like the best. If your happier at a school, you’re probably more likely to do well. So while grades are important, you shouldn’t base your decision off of which school is easier. Hopkins has a much better reputation, especially for International Studies.
