JHU (not BME) vs. Cornell

I have narrowed my choices, and it basically came down to cornell vs. johns hopkins :) Unfortunately for me, I did not get into JHU's BME. Without BME, where should I go? Money, location are not my factors for my decision. I will appreciate anyone who suggests me the choice :) Thanks

The atmoshpere at Hopkins and Cornell are vastly different. Size, location, climate, city vs. the middle of nowhere, etc. It would be your best bet if you could visit each and get a feel for each campus.

Also, what major do you intend to study?

I'm thinking about either Mechanical engineering or biological engineering along with pre-med courses. I visited Cornell, and I loved it there, but I cannot visit JHU anymore, since school starts soon, and there's no time left for me to go there.

My daughter was accepted to JHU 2 years ago but not to their BME program. She was between 4 schools and decided on Wash U. Three days after she sent her acceptance to Wash U she received an email from JHU that they had an opening in their BME program and could accept her (this was past the May 1 deadline). She declined because she had already made her decision and has been very happy. If JHU is your first choice, you should call the school and see what the chances of a spot opening up are. The same thing could happen for you. Good luck.

Thanks a lot. I did not know they allow people to get in if spots open up :( anyways, I've decided to go to Cornell, since its engineering program is a bit better than that of JHU :)

good decision.

bump this...im also looking into mechanical engineering and wondering which school is better
