Does JHU mix & match your best SAT I scores (among only the new ones), or do they look at them by each sitting. Also, how much weight does the writing section carry? I understand Georgetown is ignoring this section until they've figured out what to do with it, but what about Johns Hopkins, and are there any other colleges that disregard this section as well? I have only looked around JHU's website, and their FAQ did not quite answer my questions! Thank you!!

I'm pretty sure they still look at the writing section b/c in the time of the old SAT, they required 3 SAT IIs, one of which was writing. While now, they don't require SAT IIs, only recommend them. Therefore, they definitely do look at the writing section. I'm pretty sure that JHU, along with almost every other college in the US looks at the best SAT scores instead of each individual sitting. Yo could always e-mail them and ask.

for Frosh apps, the Hop still requires 3 SATII's, unless the ACT is submitted.

I think you may be referring to high school graduates of '05, but I will be applying for a spot in the JHU's '10 class. Here is a link that may clear some stuff up:

thanks for the clarification, krabble. BUT, IMO, "optional" SATIIs are not optional for selective college admissions. Plus, if the really meant optional, they wouldn't ask for three, again, IMO. (Kinda like optional essays -- they aren't.)

I definitely agree with you- why would one not do all that he/she could do to be accepted?!
