For Jimmy Carter and his family.
He is a good man. Definitely a life well lived.
Entering hospice care can mean a lot of things. My mother was on hospice three times, for several months each. The news stories do not reveal much, for privacy reasons. Sometimes people enter hospice very near the end, but hospice services can cover months or even years. I hope he is comfortable, regardless.
A true hero to me. I have few people (and very few politicians) on my Hero list. Love the fact that he had such an inspirational post-presidency.
It can. But being that this was an official release, Iâm assuming itâs end-of-life care. Iâm reminded of the press release by Buckingham Palace in September: âThe Queenâs doctors are concerned for Her Majestyâs healthâŠâ
The man has done a lot of good in the world in 98 years, particularly post-presidency. My thoughts are with him and his family.
Agree. For an official statement, the end of life is probably very near. Prayers to the family.
I think itâs safe to say he has had a greater impact after his presidency than he did during it.
He was one of the candidates in the first election I was eligible to vote in. I remember coming home from work and turning on the news briefly before going out to vote, only to hear the news anchors declaring the winner. Polls hadnât closed in my state yet. I remember feeling âwhy bother?â but I voted anyway.
He has had a long and accomplished life. I wish him a peaceful passing, and his family the comfort they need.
Jimmy Carter may not have been the greatest president ever, but he is a great human being. He has always been true to his beliefs, and he worked tirelessly to share his faith not simply in words, but in deeds. I have nothing but respect for him, and I hope that his transition is not a difficult one. Prayers for him and for his family.
@skieurope of course you are rightâŠI guess I always hope, even for someone like Carter who is 98. I hope he is peaceful, as he should be, after such a generous life.
My mil left the hospital on hospice, improved, and lived 3 more years!
And my MIL lived 13 months on hospice. None of our anecdotes seem relevant right now . A former President is dying. His family will deal with that as we all do at some point if our parents live long enough. And his wife is still living at 95. So many added layers with a former President.
A life well lived. Thank you, President Carter.
May his transition be peace-filled. A really good man.
A wonderful and honorable gentleman. Hugs. And respect.
It sounds like the perfect way to spend his final days.
And now Rosalyn has been diagnosed with dementia. So sad
They have a wonderfully strong family, community and church that Iâm sure will be there to support them. And for that I am happy.
But this isnât cheery news.
The Carters made a surprise appearance in the townâs annual peanut parade. That was so sweet.
So sad. Rosalyn entered hospice a day or so ago and just passed away.
What a wonderful, compassionate and kind family. I think all of us can take a lesson from them about giving back to our communitiesâŠand caring for others.
May she rest in peace.
