JMU Honors Decisions?

I just received my acceptance today. In-state.

Congratulations, pjramos61! We live near Roanoke, Virginia and haven’t gotten anything. Not sure if they’re doing rejection or deferral letters. Really getting antsy. Seems like my son should have received something by now:/ Waiting is so hard! It looks like a great program. So happy that some of you have made it:)

Here are my basic stats:

In-state
4.0 UW GPA, 4.35 W
Attend a magnet school for math, science, and technology
31 ACT
2010 SAT I
A few EC’s, nothing spectacular
Wrote my essay about my mathematical research. I thought it was pretty good.

Thank you for sharing your stats, Fermat25 and huge congrats again! I emailed to find out if they were going to send letters to everyone (accepted, rejected or deferred) and was told yes. All EA applicants have been sent a letter. Letters were mailed on February 9th. So weird that my son hasn’t received his yet. We usually get mail from the JMU area within a day or two. I guess we’ll keep watching the mail!:>

My daughter got her acceptance to the honors program yesterday - we are in UPNY.

Got my acceptance letter today. I live in PA.

I got in!
Female, from NJ
3.9/4.8 GPA
1100/1720 SAT
NHS treasurer, Interact Vice President, Varsity Softball Captain, Yearbook Editor, Math Peer Tutor, Class Ambassador, Newspaper, write for county paper, publication in Chicken Soup for the Teenage Soul, lots and lots of community service.

Congratulations, everyone! We still haven’t received my son’s decision. Must be post office gremlins at work:)

Lizz2152,

I’m not sure about Merit Scholarships. My son is interviewing for the Dingledine Scholarship this Sunday. He received that invitation based on special application several wks ago. I do know if he isn’t one of the five students chosen for Dingledine he automatically gets a Madison Achievement Scholarship. If you’re a math or a sciences student, make sure you fill out the Second Century Scholars application on the College of Arts and Sciences website. It’s quick and easy and it’s 75 percent of tuition a year!

Good luck:)

p.s. I feel almost certain that it would be just fine to call your admissions counselor and ask. They’re eager to help…after all, their job is to get you to choose JMU;D

Thanks a lot! I’ll definitely call in and apply for the scholarship

applied early action, got in, still nothing regarding Honors. Anyone else in our shoes?

If you applied to Honors via EA, I really think you should have received something by now. Did you ever receive a confirmation that Honors had received your application materials? Call or e-mail. They won’t notify by phone, but maybe they’ll resend your letter. My son finally found out when they mailed a letter saying that all Dingledine finalists were automatically accepted to Honors. Good luck!
