Assuming a GPA around 3.6-3.8, what kind of job opportunities are available with a Duke Economics degree (B.S.)? What salaries have companies offered fresh duke econ grads? Thanks for all your help- anecdotal evidence is welcome.

here's another helpful link, it's not from duke but you get the idea

Duke is a heavy recruiting ground for I-banks. A 3.6-3.8 combined with notable achievements outside of the classroom is enough to get you an interview. I think this is a common path taken by most Duke econ grads - the biggest employers of Duke students are Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, Citigroup/bank, UBS, Bank of America, and Lehman Brothers (all top 10 employers over the past 3 years). So that illustrates the career path taken by many Dukies.

Most of my Duke friends in IB make 60-70G base salary and get a bonus of around that much...so first year out of college they are making around 120,000 plus signing bonus. I think this is around standard for 1st year investment bankers, though I've only discussed salaries with a few people.

Most analysts where I work (in research, in contact with 6 other interns regularly) have some econ coursework, but I would say their actual majors are pretty various. So basically, don't think you can't get a similar job to an Econ major with another major.
