What is the average GPA of the econ students that get hired as ibankers. Do companies look at GPA when hiring, or is it all based on the interview/resume/etc?

If I had to guess, average gpa is a 3.7-3.8, and is very critical to getting an interview. I’m not sure what all this pre-college hype about investment banking is all about though; it’s a changed industry.

3.7+, but I’ve seen lower

how is it a changed industry? is it not profitable? I want a job that will eventually land me with a six figure income (Yes, this sounds selfish, but it would be the only way that I would be satisfied with my educational choices)

Most likely I think you and I are quite different philosophically, it may just be an age/maturity thing, but I do wish you well in your quest for 6 figures.

As far as the industry, there’s no doubt that some people will still make money, but reading the book “Too Big to Fail” will provide a good overview of the events that have transpired over the past couple years. The conversion of the broker-dealers into bank holding companies with access to the discount window (and much tighter regulation) is one of the more fundamental changes.

Would I be better off doubling in econ and cs even if it might be harder to get a higher gpa, or should i just stick with econ and mms along with other classes that are interesting but easier.
