Job Outlook for CS Major

What are some of the job offers for students who are graduating with a Computer Science from the U of C?

Whats the average pay as a beginner? Obviously pay rate goes up with expierience.

What is the differance in getting a CS degree from U of C than lets say a top techy school like MIT, or Caltech?

I ask this question becuase I am so afraid to complete college and then be unemployed and in debt.

I am talking about with a Bachelor of Science degree.

I have looked at UChicago’s CS program closely. I think it is very good and getting a job after graduation shouldn’t be a problem at all. In case you didn’t know, Toyota Technological Institute is affiliated with CS department @ UChicago.

1: As a competent CS major, you will not be unemployed.

2: This is anecdotal, but I know alumni working at top tech firms (e.g. Google) and trading firms. Many others opt to go to graduate school, doing research in Computer Science, Math, or other associated fields.

does U of C have some institutional data reporting where their grads end up (in comp sci, econ, eg) and their income levels (if not in academia)?

I’m pretty sure they have records for law and med, and maybe finance, not sure about computer science.

There’s a alum who’s a Software Engineer at Apple coming in on Saturday; I might ask him.

Yes please do ask and let us know.

Thanks.
