Hey all. I wanted to know what the job market looks like in marine sciences in the US. I have two master’s in this field, and studied in Europe, but the job prospects are not great - especially when it comes to marine mammals, most of the time you are required to either volunteer for a year (that’s right, no salary), or even better to PAY THEM to be able to intern or work. It is pretty messed up but has become a normal and accepted thing here. So I wanted to know what things are like in the US - do you earn well, are there jobs in this field? Thanks!
It’s pretty competitive. It sounds about the same as Europe. Might try an internship.
I have - I actually did 4 research internships since I started my studies. So really all chances should be on my side, but it is tough in any case. What I need is a paid job, not vocational internships, I already did too many. Not sure what they want nowadays - A 25 year old with 30 years of experience I guess. Are you working in this field yourself?
