Job shadowing a doctor as a high schooler

Hello! I've heard rumors from my high school and others that some high schoolers around my age (junior) are job shadowing actual physicians. What I'm so curious is how they were able to get such an experience without being denied (because there are privacy issues with patients). Do you know anyone/have you had such an experience and how did you get it? Was is through volunteering at the hospital then being promoted up, was it someone you know, or etc?

Thanks!

My doctor is part of a large group (over 100 doctors), and they had fliers around about a summer doctor-shadowing program that lasts about two weeks. Applications were open but they mentioned it helping if the student was an EMT in training. It was for HS students, not college students.

It’s not a matter of being promoted, it is a volunteer opportunity. The only thing the doctor’s group or hospital gets out of it is getting kids interested in medicine.
