I noticed that one of the regular posters noted that her son listed one of the cons of going to IU as not having recruiters from the West Coast, and I had some questions about finding jobs. I know that the majority of IU grads end up working in Indy, Cincinnati, Chicago and other surrounding cities, and that slightly scares me. I'm an in-stater, but I grew up in Florida, still have a lot of connections there, and still have my heart set on returning when I graduate. Does anyone have advice about how to seek out jobs not in these states? Has any other graduate had this problem? While I have friends and some family in Florida, I don't really have connections in that way. I'm an economics/political sci major with LAMP. I'm hoping that there are some recruiters that come to IU for kelley from far away?
Any light shed on this topic would be greatly appreciated.

Unfortunately recruiters are mostly from the midwest (with some from New York thrown in). However, if you want to work in the southeast you can hit up the alumni database.

My roommate will be interning in Key Lago this summer (he is a tourism management major) and he got that by simply talking with professors and asking them if they knew any good dive shops in Flordia. They knew a couple, refered him, he had the interviews and got the job.

It really depends on what job you want after graduation.

Thanks for the response.
