I'm having trouble finding an appropriate job for me over the summer. Does having a job make an application seem more competitive? More imporantly, would not having a job the summer of my junior year (senior this fall) affect my chances greatly?

I'm going to apply to U.Va ED this fall; would having a summer job be useful for this college's application?

Not having a job will not hurt you a lot, nor will having one help you a lot (unless it was an amazing, non hs-ish job).

For the most part, work experience is important for 2 reasons. First, if your family needs the money to live off of, it may make a HUGE difference in your app. Second, it shows that you completed your other activities IN ADDITION TO working.
