Jobs

Hi I am currently going to be an incoming freshman into high school and I was thinking about getting a part-time job. What are some jobs that you guys have done throughout high school?

The food service industry (restaurants) is a great place to start! I am a hostess at a local restaurant and I’ve had tons of fun, you can make a lot of money in food service and you learn valuable life skills.

Kumon. Easy work and looks great on a resume

^^ I’ve worked at Kumon for two years now. It’s not too difficult to get in; the work is pretty easy, and it’s fun too if you have nice co-workers

@lloveband and @tigerman333, I’ve attended Kumon for like 6 years. But am quitting at the end of this month, so have some experience with kumon. The only thing is kumon sometimes has long hours

My son started working after his freshman year in high school. He found a local dog boarder who hired him to walk/feed the dogs she boarded.

When he turned 16, he got a job in a local supermarket. He’s there right now, at age 19.

My older daughter babysat for years. When she turned 15, she got a job in a local Italian Ices shop. She’s still there 3 summers later.

Her younger sister is only 14; she’s hoping to work with her sister next summer.

Google “part time jobs for 15 year olds” to see who hires at 15-- I know McDonalds does.

Also, take a look at snagajob.com You can specify “part time jobs for 15 year olds” and include your zip code.

More ideas: I started working at 16 (after years of baby sitting) as a busgirl at a local restaurant. I stayed there-- as a busgirl, hostess, then waitress-- until I quit to start teaching.

My older sister worked at McDonalds at age 16.

My brother started at a gas station, then became a dishwasher in the same restaurant I was working at.

Another sister worked in a bagel store from age 16.

My youngest sister got a job at age 16 at a local garden center. She stayed there through college, and quit to begin full time work as an accountant.
