@itsesthery I know this might be a stupid question, but what’s a likely letter?
@indigocanine Its just a letter the university sends you saying it is veryyyy likely that you would get into that university. It is so that you start thinking about that school more and dont commit anywhere else or anything. It is normally only sent out to athletics or like the top people who they are sure they will accept
I haven’t gotten a JHU interview :(( What do I do? I did their online request form already (a longggg time ago) but should I email/call them or something?
@VaishS I see! I’ve never heard of that before, but it sounds very interesting. Do many schools implement the likely letters?
@VaishS When I requested my interview, I was able to pick the time and date. Did that not happen automatically for you?
@indigocanine yeah a lot of schools do likely letters but it’s to veryyyyyy few students
And NO that didn’t happen to me. The form just asked me my name and email and such and said they would get in touch
Could you maybe pm the link or tell me how you got to the form? Maybe I was looking at a different form
Even though a few days ago they did send me an email saying that they saw my request and to be patient and that they would try to get as many people interviewed as possible.
@VaishS I haven’t gotten an interview yet either! I think it’s because I’m from an overrepresented part of the country where the demand is high for interviews but there aren’t enough alumni. Here’s the email I got from JHU:
Dear _____,
Thank you for your interest in Johns Hopkins. We have received your request for an off-campus interview with a Hopkins alumni volunteer, and are working to accommodate as many requests as possible. We appreciate your patience.
Interviews for this year will be completed by the end of February. Due to a higher volume of interview requests than available alumni volunteers, there is a possibility that we may not be able to match you for an interview. If you have been matched, you will be contacted by the alumni volunteer to schedule a mutually convenient time to complete your interview. If you do not hear from a volunteer by the beginning of March, we were unable to match you and we apologize for any inconvenience caused.
As a reminder, interviews are an optional part of the application process and are meant to be informational rather than evaluative. Your application will not be impacted in any way if you are not matched for an interview.
In the meantime, we encourage you to visit Hopkins Interactive, our student-run social media site, where you can connect with current students to learn more about the Blue Jay experience. If you have any questions or would like to cancel your interview request, please contact us at haav@jhu.edu.
Sincerely,
Office of Undergraduate Admissions
@shadyconcepts Yeah that’s the same email I got!! But I’m from the middle of Ohio… Not all that overrepresented
@shadyconcepts Where are you from (generally speaking), if you don’t mind me asking.
@indigocanine I’m from the Northeast, specifically in New Jersey
It is also possible that there simply aren’t any alumni interviewers around your region. I had my interview ( I live in California) and my interviewer told me how there wasnt any interviewer in my region until this year.
My D had her interview last month. We’re from Westchester, NY. Although the alum was 1 town over, so maybe that facilitated the interview.
Hi, I’m an international student from Ghana!! I plan on sending a research paper on Monday. Do you think its too late to send one?
@4rmGHtoJHU if you think it will bolster your application then it not too late.
So I have a question. On March 18, will decisions be released at midnight or will I have to try to stay sane until 3:00 PM?.
@indigocanine I would assume 5pm EST.
Looked back on my supplement essay and realized that I had a few grammatical errors (subject-verb agreement of all things smh…was like the SAT never happened).
I took great pains to spell JOHNS correctly every time though haha.
@Calciferous I also spent probably more time than I should have making sure it was Johns every time. I’ve been purposefully avoiding looking back at my essay because I don’t want to stress myself out if/when I find errors. Good luck with your supplement! I’m sure they’ll love you. (:
Has anyone received information about Application portal from JHU.
@dstv2020 Nope, should be around late this month or early March
