JHU RD 2025 Chancing

Hi all! I was curious on what you guys thought about my app, and thought this forum may be helpful for some prospective students. Here is my info:
I am applying for the Molecular Bio program at Hopkins. I have a 4.0 UW GPA (4.55 weighted - 9 APs and 4 dual enrollment classes). I have gotten a 5 on 6/6 AP exams taken so far and will take three more this year. I am also taking Calc 3, Diff Eq, and two semesters of orgo chem. I have a 36 ACT with a 10/12 on writing. I also have 800 scores on SAT II Chem and Math Level 2. I have ECs that have to do with volunteer work, the co-president of a science club, but my main one is having done research in a lab and published a paper in a respected journal. I have also co-founded a volunteer group at the public library in my community. I have had leadership positions in volunteer organizations in my school. I have also participated in varsity athletics all 4 years of high school and won a state title my sophomore year. I think my essays are solid and will not pull me down, but I do not believe they have that “wow!” factor many amazing examples online seem to have. I have two good letter of recs from teachers and I have one from the professors I did research work with.

I do also want to say that I am not boasting or being self-deprecating. I have genuinely never compared myself to others and focused on my work, so I have no clue how I stack up against some of the best students in the world!

Thanks! Looking forward to hearing from you guys, and good luck to all!

I think that your resume is extremely impressive, but that Johns Hopkins is a reach for even the very best student. It is all very unpredictable, but I think that you should be extremely confident in the process and very proud of yourself. Good luck!

I agree with the PP that your resume is very impressive.

That being said, I think JHU looks for students that will fit their institutions mission. Community service and collaboration is huge for them. Stats are a given for anyone who applies to top tier colleges. How you will “fit” into their community is very important and if you sat in on any of the Admissions Virtual sessions they consistently mention that. While their Essay Prompt was changed, their values did not. So, If your ECs demonstrated that I think you have a good shot as any high stats student.

D21 was accepted ED into the BME program and her ECs showed that very clearly as did her essays. Hope that helps! And good luck!!
