I'm a junior looking for a good summer program, never been to one before. Has anyone been/heard of the JHU summer program? If so, is it difficult to get into? Was it worthwhile?

I have heard of the JHU CTY summer programs. Is that what ur talkin about?

No, that wasn't what I was thinking about initially. I think JHU has another summer explorations program and college classes.I thought CTY was mainly focused on younger students...but I'd still like to hear what you have to say about it!

yea, i hvn't heard of the normal JHU highschool summer program. But one thing u gotta look for in a summer program is that is it selective? Because most universities offer programs that if u pay, u can get in. So just look around and look for one that is kinda hard to get into; to me, those r the better ones...

Are there any ones in particular that you recommend?

Johns Hopkins offers both CTY (Center for Talented Youth) and Pre-College programs.

CTY is more academically intense, and there are regulations regarding SAT scores, etc. You apply for a class (you can list up to fifteen sites/sessions/classes). You study the class to which you are assigned intensively for three weeks. I have had great experiences with this program.

The Pre-College program is less academically rigorous, with more downtime to explore Baltimore. However, it seems that admission into this program is based more on who can afford it than who is intelligent.
