dam although it is early compared to some other other schools I kind of want to know the decision tomorrow
same, i just want to know as soon as possible
About how many of the ED applicant of the 1900 last year applied for BME? Im really nervous by how many BME applied and how many of them got in ED? Anyone have the numbers??
^ I read last year that approximately 35% of those who applied ED were BME applicants
Honestly, that’s lower than I expected
Did any of you guys submit your first quarter grades?
Should I even apply to JHU regular action with a 3.93/4.00 GPA and a 31 on the ACT? My class rank is 5/44 (top 15%) and I have a decent extracurricular list, including a research internship at UT Southwestern and establishing a CPR Club. (I’m a certified BLS instructor) However, I feel that something is missing. (SAT II: I got a 700 on the Bio E and 730 on Math II) My academic profile is pretty weak. Any thoughts?
I think my first quarter grades are shown on my transcript; I could be wrong though.
@SHAMARKE97 I see no red flags suggesting you have a slim (never zero) chance of being accepted. Your GPA is above the median score and your class rank (which isn’t as valuable/informative when your class size is so small) and ACT are competitive, though below the 50th percentile (not that that by any means excludes you). There is no way of knowing whether you will be accepted or not unless you apply.
I would read through and consider the comments on this recent thread: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/johns-hopkins-university/1825270-scores.html#latest regarding whether you should submit your SAT Subject Tests. Note that if you are applying as an engineering major then there is some pressure on you to submit two subject tests (it is “encouraged”: https://apply.jhu.edu/apply/exams/).
Mine come out by Monday so I haven’t yet. have you?
of course you should apply regular action ( i would regret not applying anywhere i want to go anyway). I think you have a good academic record however your test scores are on the weaker side. Nonetheless there is still time to improve your scores.
no matter what, I say go for it! You should at least try, if you truly want to go there. I would probably regret if I didn’t try. it would be worse if you never tried, then you would constantly think “would I have gotten in?”. I say it doesn’t hurt to try
^ I second that
How are you guys coping with the waiting…it’s only been 4 days and I’m already going insane lol. (And the amount of times I am going on College Confidential everyday is starting to get unhealthy).
Well if you ever apply to medical school wait until you have to do this for potentially 10 months! You can apply as early as June and wait as late as April for an acceptance (or later if you’re on a waitlist). Applying JHU ED and waiting for a month is but a pittance!
I’m quite anxious as well, but hopefully the wait is worth it
Might I recommend you purchase an organic chemistry textbook and get a head start on your alpha-carbon reactions? Nothing makes time fly like a good aldol reaction!
Is a 700 on Bio E SAT II enough? My school offers only AP CALC, so I had to study for it without the help of AP Bio?
@SHAMARKE97 Dont worry about it too much. I think a 700 on a subject test is a solid score.
@NixonDenier Hey! I was just wondering how was life for you was after Hopkins as a neuroscience major. Did you eventually go on to med school or grad school and where at?
Just curious for those who did not apply BME: what major/minor did you indicate on your applications? Also, did anyone here send in an arts supplement of any kind? I sent in a performing arts DVD but have no idea if it will even get reviewed.
