@northstarfx Hey, I put computer science as my first choice for major and interdisciplinary studies for my second choice. And my plan is to send in a supplement video too(but that’s only if it sounds somewhat decent lol). I do believe it will get reviewed. What performing arts do you do?
For the record I’m currently in med school and things are going great. Happy I went to Hopkins and loved the neuro major. I won’t say which medical school since medical schools are small and undergrad+major+med school leaves only one face up on the “Guess Who?” game board.
I’m a double legacy applying ED, although I don’t think I’ll get in. How will we be notified in December about whether we get in or not?
Portal update + email
@NixonDenier Does the portal update appear on the Common App with the decision result?
Late to the party, but count me in! International student, prospective bio major (non pre-med) gal. Any fellow international students?
JHU dream school FTW! The waiting is killing me, but I’m scared to see the results. How paradoxical…
@Amphicoelias You receive an email from JHU in late November and create an account. Check the account on December 12th and see if you’re admitted. Good luck!
I’m also an international student
Anyone here waiting for their SAT scores?
You mean to be received by JHU or getting back the score itself
Am waiting for November subject tests
Getting back the score. I took the in-school SAT on October 14th. Scores were supposed to be out last week.
Mucho excited/nervous
@jennifermouse Are you an international student? I took the SAT in October but on the 3rd (Or sometime close to that)
No, I’m from Florida haha. The scores I was waiting for finally came out last night.
How important are essays to Johns Hopkins? From what I’ve heard, JHU puts more emphasis on personal qualities that they see through your essays and recommendations than SAT scores.
I’m not sure how important they are but I wouldn’t say it weighs more than the SATs. It’s more like scores give the objective info while essays give the subjective.
SATs are a very important component, but Hopkins is known to admit students with scores <2000 if everything else looks very solid. During our campus visit earlier this year, one of the student-guides we met with was admitted with an SAT score of 1880.
Yeah, I kind of figured that essays wouldn’t be the deciding factor in college admissions. I was just wondering because out of the 34 students who applied at my school, only 2 got in (non-altheletes). Both had scores below a 2100.
What was the application like?
@trz1998 did they do ED? And what do you think got them in then (EC’s, essays, GPA, etc.)?
Wow, 34 students, @trz1998, with only 2 admits? How many of them were ‘qualified candidates’ in your opinion?
