Hey I wanted to start a new thread for anyone wanting to transfer to JHU from a CC. I attend a California Community College and would like to apply this year. I would really like this thread to offer advice on transfer admissions. Here is some info on myself
GPA: 3.7
EC: Charter President Phi Theta Kappa, Volunteer UCSF Medical Center Emergency Department 6 month program

What my counselors have told me has been to choose a few things that I am passionate about and develop them. Apparently EC's are not as critical as in HS, but then again there is a difference between UC transfers and Ivy League transfers.

GPA : 3.8 :( (from CCC)
College EC: Student govt vp, political campaign, college event planning committee
Highschool EC: Varsity Soccer, Yearbook, Handbell(haha, don't laugh), Dance Team, many more
Major: Art History or Political Science

How difficult is it to transfer into JHU for Junior status...anybody have a % acceptance type thing? I did a search and heard they accepted 100 out of 800 in 2006. Is this true?

It was around those numbers. Apparently this year they had around 700 applicants and accepted around 75. As a pre-med student what can one do to set himself/herself apart from others in terms of extracurriculars? My school does not offer and Honor's program so I'm hoping Phi Theta Kappa will make up for that. Being from CA is also a setback in that traveling to MD to tour the school is not really an option unless you were already planning on going to the East Coast. I know that those who visit the school leave a record of their visit and that may have some affect on admissions.

I'm a transfer student who got in this year from a community college. I'm not sure if sharing my stats will give you any help because I don't feel like I did anything extraordinary that you can look up to

GPA: 4.0
Community Service: 150+ hours over the past 2 years
Honors program scholar: Ranked #1 in the whole program
Phi Theta Kappa: Member
Alpha Gamma Sigma: Officer
Work: 30 hours a week supporting myself
Part time: Coach a youth basketball team and kickboxing for pleasure

I may be wrong, but I believe only two people on this forum got into JHU this year. I'm one of them and another is by the name of TANYA. Maybe she can shed some of her own info.

PS: JHU is not an IVY LEAGUE. Yes, they were invited to join when the IVY league was forming, but they also declined their offer.

okay i just did a search after you pointed that out and realized that it was only a rumor. hahah this whole time i've been giving all my friends wrong info
