I have been accepted to both schools. I plan to major in Bio on a pre-med track.
I visited Northeastern and fell completely in love with the academic structure and social scene. However, I have never been to JHU so I don't have a good idea of what it's like...

I got similar awards for both. Any inputs???

Not trying to put down Northeastern or question your judgement skills, but JHU is known as the place for pre-med. You were very lucky to be chosen seeing that RD admissions was only 13% acceptance this year. JHU is the clear choice.

JHU has always been a dream for me. I know JHU is better known for pre-med and I know I’m insanely lucky.
However, I do wonder about the social scene and the type of gpa I could have there. I work really hard but I’m also not willing to sacrifice having a life; my happiness matters more. That is what makes me wonder about Northeastern…

If you want easier classes and a high GPA, go to Northeastern. If you want to challenge yourself in ways you never thought you could be challenged, and are willing to work extremely hard, go to JHU. Nobody ever became successful by taking the easy way out. Thats all I’m going to say. GL with your choice.

Is money a factor? Did you receive merit aid at Northeastern and only loans from JHU? Best to minimize undergraduate debt if headed to medical school.

the sentiments expressed in this thread are right though. I worked with Northeastern grads when I was an engineer as they have a large coop program. You will likely do well at Northeastern but will need to work harder to do well at Hopkins. Schools recognize the rigor of the Hopkins education, however. Should you do well at Hopkins, more doors will be open for you. However, you have to be driven to go to the top school. Plenty of people at Hopkins, MIT, Cornell, etc. had easier cheaper options, but they elected to go to the more rigorous school for a reason. They want to challenge themselves and excel during and after college because they are ambitious.

I received merit aid at NU and a grant at JHU that’s based on my family’s financial standing (so if that changes my $ at JHU could go away after my 1st yr). While I know what a good school it is and dream about JHU I question if it will be the good choice in the long run. How much of an edge do the really give you (premed)?

JHU is the superior school academically, particularly for pre=med. If it is affordable, I"d go there. MY D’s friend is able to mix the academics with a great social life. I’d certainly at least visit the school.
