double post

i didnt equate the fact that JHU has undeniably stronger academics with a reason to choose it. I personally chose JHU because of the atmosphere and philosophy on learning and because i felt most comfortable there. I agree, the OP should go where they feel best, but another poster said the academics are of the same caliber, and all other things equal, JHU is "better" school, in terms of reputation, the prowess of professors in their respective fields, the resources available to students, the weight of the diploma etc...

Does that mean its the right fit for the OP? No of course not. Is it going to offer the best education to everyone? No. But overall, most people consider JHU to be stronger academically

I guess it was not fair for me to equate academics without giving my reasoning for it. JHU may have the better professors and better research facilities but the accessibility of professors at W&L really boosts the educational quality in my mind. Like willywonka said, it really is what you make of it. If you take advantage of the research opportunities (if you can get them since the school is so big and thus there's a lot of competition for them), JHU is a great fit. If you prefer to work closely with professors, see them often and have them know you personally, W&L works better.

To the OP: I would get your friend on CC and going to the forums of the two schools and asking specific questions, the posters there tend to be more knowledgeable about the schools than those who wander into this forum.

Oh, and I apologize for mistakenly saying JHU is Div. I if it is not, I must have thought that since it was for Lacrosse and it was a pretty big and famous school, that it would be in Div. I throughout. Thank you to those who corrected me.

u are 17 years old, probably haven't even gone to college, u really shouldn't be offering these advices.

That's not very nice.

When you go to a forum about college admissions, what do you expect? If you didn't notice, I suggest going to forums for the individual schools and asking about them, since the people at the forums probably know a lot more about the schools than everyone here.

If you look at what I said, I do not claim to be an expert at anything. I have done extensive research of W&L leading up to my decision to apply there and I feel it might be helpful to share my knowledge. You don't have to take it but telling me not to offer my help is insulting and a waste. Several high school students gave me great advice during my college search, why should I not try to do the same for others?
