hopkins still has a stronger reputation when it comes to pre-med.. washu is strong, but hopkins is stronger

WashU is ranked highly, but a lot of that comes from them gaming the system (many good students are admitted who they think will attend, while the strongest applicants are placed on waitlist or denied when WashU thinks they'll go elsewhere--I know some top students who got into Ivy League that were waitlisted at WashU when they were obviously qualified).

I'm sure it's a great school, but I lose some respect for an administration that does that sort of thing, which is why I didn't apply there. Focus on the education and making the best school possible, not just rankings. (Then again, Hopkins could do well to focus a little on improving ranking, although it's not bad, tied with Cornell at 13 and just better than Brown at 14 according to US News).

BME at JHU is obviously very competitive, so if you got in that, keep that in mind. It is #1 in the country and acceptance rates are even lower than this year's 27% for JHU in general.

yeah wash u does a lot to boost the ratings... someone in med school told me that the dramatic ratings boost in the past few years has made wash u seem fishy, so it doesnt get as much respect from peer schools as such a highly ranked school would normally get

p.s. hopkins is trying to not necessarily boost its rating, but make it more appealing by changing up the disgusting food and in other ways trying to improve the quality of life.. i guess to attract more kids

JHU: It has a better reputation and I think it's better than Wash U, anyways.
