<p>I'm doing the common application for Johns Hopkins and they require that a supplement to the common app be submitted. Most of this supplement is just basic info like name, address, choice of major etc. But they also have an essay section and I don't know if it's required.</p>
<p>They say:
Students applying to Johns Hopkins using the Common Application plus the Johns Hopkins Supplement must submit the Common Application essay; submission satisfies the Hopkins essay requirement. However, the Admissions Committee welcomes the chance to read additional essays on the following two topics.</p>
<p>Does that sound like their supplement essay is required or just optional and welcomed?</p>
