The writer of that article just seems really bitter tbh… It would be interesting to know if he was rejected or given the scholarship
@bellybones dont diminish yourself by assuming that I am both sour and white. you’ll notice that the link was presented by questioning its validity and inviting others to comment in a constructive, not vindictive manner.
I am sorry that I offended you. That wasn’t my intention. My comment was not directed at you. It was directed at the author of the article. My opening “please don’t diminish yourself…” was unnecessarily personal. I apologize for that.
I really, really dislike that article, though. I don’t find it interesting. I find it loathsome. It expresses a sense of entitlement that I find offensive. Worst yet, it diminishes the achievements of those who were selected. I wish I could sit down with the author with that year’s Johnson class profile book in front of us and ask, “okay, which one of these kids would you pull the Johnson Scholarship from so you could get one?”
@Galore and others,
I emailed back on Monday, and got a reply yesterday, they said they can not communicate whether or not you received the Invite over email or phone; however, they told me to call on Friday had I not received anything.
Here’s a thought… perhaps they have a small group of “alternates” set aside until they hear from all the accepted finalists. Assuming there are invited finalists who for some reason cannot attend the competition, they will invite the next on the list until their quota is filled. Once filled, the final rejections go out. I hope this is the case for the sake of those still waiting to hear, and that a FedEx letter arrives soon.
@mxl2015 thank you!
@Yocco1 Who knows that may be the case. All I know is that they didn’t send my sons rejection letter out on Friday or it would have been here by now. We are too close to the school for the mail to have taken this long. We did get a FedEx truck arrival today but it was an Amazon delivery from Lexington, KY haha.
I don’t hold out much hope for an invitation but want to be assured they reviewed his application at least.
So we in Maryland sit here and wait another day!
@BB1945, I’m wondering if perhaps it could also be that your son is being considered for one of the other scholarship that utilizes the Johnson Application. I agree with the others that it is strange that you (and a few others) haven’t heard anything. Best Wishes!!!
Rejected
Oh Bummer. I’m so sorry. Good luck as I’m sure you have other wonderful opportunities! I gotta believe we will get that rejected letter soon too!
We have not received a fed x or a snail mail letter of any kind as of today. I am guessing my student is not a finalist but will be more at rest once the answer arrives.
@Alfredsmom Are you local like us? (MD)
nope - midwest
@Alfredsmom We finally got our reject letter today! So glad that is over with. Letter dated 2-6 but man that took a long time to travel 2.5 hours! Good luck in all your son’s choices! We have a full scholarship to our state school so it doesn’t sting too much to miss out on W&L! Everything happens for a reason!
I am sorry to hear your news. Still waiting for the mail to arrive. I wish you all the best.
Rejected.
Well, the rejection letter arrived today. Disappointment! but at least we know now. Congrats again to all those who will have the opportunity to compete at the next level and best wishes to all of you !!!
So, when is the final result coming??
2 weeks(ish)
