Johnson Scholarship Deadline

My son has applied, visited (quite a drive for us from chicago area), interviewed, and went to information sessions in our local area. He is really interested in attending W & L. He cannot do so without winning a substantial scholarship. I’m hoping at the end of the month he is one of the lucky 200 invited to compete. What are his chances? 34 ACT, 8 AP’s with mostly 5’s (two 4"s), varisty baseball player, umpire and assistant coach for 3 years for youth baseball, works 15-20 hours a week at a hardware store, 19/551 in a very competitive high school, producer for schools television program. He doesn’t have alot of other leadership or EC’s. Keeping my fingers crossed.

perch1024, your son’s after-school job demonstrates leadership & counts as EC’s – with his baseball and tv production work and his strong performance in a challenging curriculum as well as his demonstrated interest in W&L, he should have a decent shot at making it to the next stage. (Keep in mind that the number of applicants for the Johnson Scholarship has skyrocketed over the last few years, though.) I’d invite him up for the competition if I were on the committee! Fingers crossed for you.
